I have been trying to do a world update for the last 2+weeks with the subject file consistently puking on configureing.

My system is running unstable (~amd64) and pure 64 bit libs.

My profile is: [19] default/linux/amd64/17.0/desktop/plasma (stable) *

Here is my make.conf
Code:

If you think configure made a mistake, make sure you are using the latest
version from Git.  If the latest version fails, report the problem to the
ffmpeg-user@ffmpeg.org mailing list or IRC #ffmpeg on irc.freenode.net.
Include the log file "ffbuild/config.log" produced by configure as this will help
solve the problem.

I can compile ffmpeg if I remove the USE="" from my make.conf, which obviously isn't a permanent solution. I have tried removing the individual file names that it complains about from the USE line, but it just switches to another, ad nauseum (ie: remove samba from the USE line, results in another fail to find program that is installed). I have tried masking the current unstable ffmpeg version and reverting to the last stable version, but have got the same error.
Ideas?

The patch worked for me. I am kind of curious whether this is an issue with ffmpeg or samba to repair.

It is a patch to Samba, so it is a samba bug. The problem is that a Samba header uses a type without including the definition of the type. All the uses made by Samba of that header happen to define that type first, so the problem does not break Samba itself. However, anyone else who wants to include the header must likewise pre-include this supporting header (<time.h>) to compensate for the Samba header not including it. The header ought to include its supporting types so that callers do not need to take special steps to make the Samba header usable.
