When trying to boot up x with lxde on a fresh gentoo install, it gives an error:
Could not connect: No such file or directory."
Others have faced a similar problem: see https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/linux.gentoo.user/okoW1bZOlho
Unfortunately the user there was not able to get that problem corrected; rather he just changed over to fluxbox
So does anyone here had the same error and was able to fix it somehow ?

I don't use LXDE on my two machines running Gentoo, but I do use it on a machine running Lubuntu, and it works fine, so your post piqued my interest. I wonder if what you're experiencing is to do with the default locations of /etc/xdg and /usr/share that LXDE uses, as explained in the following NetBSD e-mail:

I added these env vars to my ~/.xinitrc and I got a usable desktop
environment. Thank you for your help.

Iit had to do with the fact that the dbus system level service is not in the default runlevel yet appearantly.
Now fixed. |
