Installing Gentoo from livedvd-amd64-hardened-nomultilib-20170118, after compilling and installing kernel i install grub:0

Than i try to setup loader with root (hd0,0)
grub prints Error 21: Selected disk does not exist

tunning menu.lst devices.map didn't help, (hd0 and hd1 didn't shows)

grub-install --recheck /dev/sda didn't helped too

PS

Than i boot with livedvd-amd64-multilib-20140826.iso
grub:0 succesfuly installs

What wrong with 20170118 livedvd ????

I don't think the live cd is meant to be used for installation, at least the newer one isn't.

Thats awfull! I always use livedvd flash with gentoo-2014 or gentoo-2016 for many things and installing and rescueing and passwords recovery and even working or programming with anjuta after booting livedvd with docache option!!!

And for installation is easy while reading handbook or forums with livedvd browser you can compilling kernel or administrating mail server or even more in terminal...

TigerJr,

Thats a feature of the way hardened was set up for that liveDVD.
/dev nodes are forbidden in a chroot.

Some users consider it bug. It makes that liveDVD unsuitable for installing Gentoo

Anyway many people would be happy if present them nohardened-multilib universal livedvd with docache :)

Keruskerfuerst

usually many people use an installed system, but in some cases you can work from memory, this work differs from work with a disk
