|
|
My desktop, running ~amd KDE had occasionally quit logging off and putting the screen in energy saving. Sometimes, it seemed a reboot would fix it for awhile, but now even that has not worked.
Under the KDE system settings Power Management, I have the energy saving set for 10 min. of inactivity. I have tried resetting that, but no luck.
Not sure where to even begin looking.. my googles haven't worked. I'm not on SystemD.. using consolekit and whatnot but not even sure if that comes into play, as I've never really looked into differences of sleep, suspend, hibernate, etc. Never messed with it. Screen is via DVI-D. Let me know if there's additional info needed for helping diagnose - be happy to oblige.
thanks for looking, JD
[edited it - instead of HDMI I'm using DVI-D]

ok, close to solving this. I created another user and it works there. So something to do with my user setup. I'll poke around and probably get it figured out. |

Looked at my /home/jim/.kde4/ directory using a root terminal and there was a red flashing link: socket-jim -> /var/run/user/1000/ksocket-jim , so I deleted that and everything is working now. So - solved. Not sure why that link got in there other than perhaps a power outage causing a crash or something. /jd
[edit] not so solved. Now, once in awhile it will log off after several minutes and then go into screen power saving, but generally something keeps it awake. Last couple reboots seems to allow normal working first time, then it doesn't log off and into power save subsequently. Double checked my home files and no socket showing as above.
