Hit roadblock with xbox 360 controller which doesn't work in steam games. Don't have enough informations to diagnose it by myself. :?

INFO
Gentoo Hardened -[14] default/linux/amd64/17.0/hardened (stable) *

tried Google, IRC #gentoo-*, Discord Gentoo == none knows.

uname -a
Linux localhost.localdomain 4.18.8-gentoo #2 SMP Wed Sep 19 01:58:44 -00 2018 x86_64 Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600K CPU @ 3.40GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux

uname -r
4.18.8-gentoo

wgetpaste -c "emerge --info"
https://paste.pound-python.org/show/IYTZYwzjpBSYntqHy1Uf/

wgetpaste /etc/portage/make.conf
https://paste.pound-python.org/show/bxF6uG1LqjkLjQnOsu2X/

wgetpaste /usr/src/linux/.config
https://paste.pound-python.org/show/zSaegECmwTUMiRGypWNl/ (X-Box controller compiled)

wgetpaste -c "eselect profile list"
https://paste.pound-python.org/show/ybCfOFNfoVrvdXiuB3TT/

wgetpaste -c Xorg.0.log
https://paste.pound-python.org/show/h5ANdcdfzceE0vXRGsr0/

Worked out of the box BEFORE on same system with /desktop profile.

SYMPTOMS
Controller had connection to a reciever after x-Box controller in kerner was compiled, but wasn't recognized by a steam.

After emerging `udev` (USE flag) is able to be used like a mouse, is able to move in Big Picture mode, but not recognized by any steam game.

TRIED SOLUTIONS
Doing lots of black forkery from google search results == didn't work.

emerged udev which turns it into a mouse.

added support for xbox controller in steam == no effect.

added user to input group

Removed udev USE flag since it's annoying to use xbox360 controller as mouse >.>

---

Thanks for any help,
- KR

I have xbox controller working fine in steam on my gentoo box. Would it help for me to post some similar info for you to see?

I don't know for sure but I kinda recall some small little tweaks involved so I can understand if that is really annoying. One feature that steam has that I don't know if you toyed with at all is the option for controller configurations...I think they are presets. Did you try anything like that?

When I get a chance I will connect the controller and do some hardware probing for you to see the drivers in use...I can't remember if it was a kernel module or what the driver is for that.

Mine works just fine, you need some kernel options though...

Code:
CONFIG_JOYSTICK_XPAD=y
CONFIG_JOYSTICK_XPAD_FF=y
CONFIG_JOYSTICK_XPAD_LEDS=y

That worked on 4.18.4, but doesn't work on 4.18.9 on my system. >.>

Anything would help, but when i tried to resolve it i end up with controller that has mouse controls on right thumb stick and arrows on left used as mouse+keyboard. >.<

i use a ps4 controller with steam, works fine after settings>controller>general controller settings > and then setting up keys manually. Theres a checkmark in there that says xbox configuration support, maybe something to do with it? is it even recognized in steams controller settings?
