Dear all,

I did not get firefox to build completely on my lenovo T60 running on x86:

I'm guessing there is OOM killer in action, no telling for sure, the snippet of log you have provided is too short.

I'd assume on an old laptop your Gentoo partition(s) might be relatively small. Here's some thoughts.

Check if you have enough free disk space so as to allow swapping to function. Is your swap space on a separate partition? What size is your root partition?

Try freeing up some space by cleaning out /var/tmp/portage and make sure your log files haven't gotten huge.

If /var/tmp/portage runs out of free disk space, the compile will fail at that point.

Run eclean to get rid of old distfiles if you keep distfiles on your root partition. This can grow to many, many GB. Even worse than log files.

Look for anything that is unneeded, like old kernel source directories in /usr/src, and remove them, and other trash files.

Ok thanks, will try. It is a Lenovo T60 with 256GB SSD. IMHO there is enough disk space but is will investigate this in detail and come back afterwards.

I have a big partition with about 250GB of free disk space which includes "/var". This could not be a problem. In terms of RAM memory, I created an additional swap file of 2GB. Anyway it failed. In the evening, I can provide the complete build log file.

Yes, or some Lines above your log please. On Multi-Core CPUs the Error is sometimes between previous build blocks, which look clean. So you have to scroll some Lines upwards to be sure.

Check your dev-libs/nss too. Even its not stable i would use 3.39, because of security issues. I am not sure if every issue get patched/downgraded in prior stable Versions too (it should because of the esr/Extended Support Release). And rust is important, but 1.28.0 is stable too.

The software is unable to display the log file as code block. the code block gets destroyed, the file truncated. Therefore I uploaded the full file to the webspace:

similar problem here. Setting "-j1" in make.conf may help to disentangle the build log, in my case resulting in

This is visible in your log as well; I don't know what it means, though. There's also a bugzilla entry, https://bugs.gentoo.org/665664 which looks related. I'll probably just wait a few days and retry eventually, since compiling on this old box takes ages.

Cheers, Ralph

However, with that configuration i can build Firefox 62.0-r1 too.
