for the last couple months, the electricsheep animation will flicker intermittently, showing a console output behind it that is filling up with text. I flashes by too quickly to read, but when I wake the computer back up, the flam3-animate process(s) (I have a dual-monitor system, so there are two xscreensaver/electricsheep processes running) are both still running at 100%. The only way to kill them is to send `kill -s KILL [pid]` to each of them explicitly.

Can you advise on how I can start debugging this? How do I turn on electricsheep's logging? How do I figure out how/why flam3-animate is getting stuck?

@stefantalpalaru, as you are the only overlay maintainer with a version of electricsheep that installs and runs, can you advise on how I might start digging into this?

Cheers,

EE

Update: here is the output when I put strace on the pid for the runaway flam3-animate process:

Code:

write(2, "ncp=2, k=0\n", 11)            = 11
write(2, "rgb=0.229251 1 0.0886694\n", 25) = 25
write(2, "hsv=1.84574 0.911331 1\n", 23) = 23

futex(0x7ff48be739d0, FUTEX_WAIT, 20750, NULL) = 0

(repeating forever)

Any idea what this is?

Cheers,
