After the recent update to kde 18.04 I'm having issues with system freezes.

SDDM is very slow, with keypresses taking several seconds to register. If I don't log in quickly, the video freezes.

Turning on compositing will freeze video.

Trying to take a screenshot freezes video.

In all cases I can login via ssh and X will be using 100% of 1 CPU core.

I have 2 nvidia GTX 580s running driver 390.67.

Any ideas where to start?

Can you please share the /var/log/Xorg.0.log (via nopaste service)?

No, applications do not affect your system until you actually start them (certainly not at the time you see SDDM).

I'm going to assume missing GLX access rights.

Moved from Portage & Programming to Desktop Environments.
It fits better here.

I downgraded my Nvidia drivers and it fixed the SDDM issues but not the compositing problems.

My X loog: https://pastebin.com/cXYgdD2W

eselect opengl is set properly.
