Hi, any help would be greatly appreciated
I am benchmarking Gentoo 64bit ARM on a Raspberry Pi 3 B+ and thus far had VERY impressive results, 54% improvment running at stock clock on Gentoo vs 1550Mhz overclock on 32bit Raspbian.

I am wanting to install cpuid to report SoC information to HWBOT Prime benchmark however it fails to compile after running
Code:
emerge --verbose sys-apps/cpuid

I get the following
Code:
Local copy of remote index is up-to-date and will be used.
 * Last emerge --sync was 30d 11h 25m 15s ago.

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

HWWAIT,

The ebuild says DESCRIPTION="Utility to get detailed information about the CPU(s) using the CPUID instruction"
Its keyworded
Code:
KEYWORDS="~amd64 ~x86"

I suspect that should really be
Code:
KEYWORDS="-* ~amd64 ~x86"
as the CPUID instruction is Intel/AMD and clones only.

You may want to look at posts by roylongbottom here, who has published a fairly extensive set of benchmarks on the Pi.

Moved from Other Things Gentoo to Gentoo on ARM.

Its one of these.

Hi,
Thanks for pointing out that is an x86 only package.
And thanks for the benchmark data, very interesting.

What I am trying to accomplish is to get HWBOTPrime.jar from hwbot.org to recognize what CPU the raspberry pi is running, it uses some package that is not installed but if it is not cpuid then I don't know what it is.
HWBOTPrime works great on raspbian, it shows the SoC and frequency as it should, I am trying to get the same to work under Gentoo so I can submit a benchmark score with HWBOTPrime.

I will update this thread if I make any progress.

You might get a hint by looking at the Debian package dependencies for HWBOTPrime. Once you have those, you can try to find the corresponding Gentoo package.

HWWAIT,

as it looks like you are running the gentoo-on-rpi3-64bit image, I tried downloading and running the benchmarking app you mentioned myself:
Code:
demouser@pi64 ~ $ wget --quiet http://downloads.hwbot.org/hwbotprime.jar
demouser@pi64 ~ $ java -jar hwbotprime.jar
Failed to load native library CpuId-64-0.8.3 on OS linux: /tmp/libCpuId-64-0.8.3.so: /tmp/libCpuId-64-0.8.3.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory (Possible cause: can't load AMD 64-bit .so on a AARCH64-bit platform)
Using UI mode.

After this, the GUI does come up however, and the test can be run.

I wonder if the app does something specific on 32-bit arm platforms? Is the source available? If not you could decompile the jar I suppose to see what it is trying to do, license permitting.

It looks like the library libCpuId-64-0.8.3.so is bundled with the application, and it unpacks it to /tmp when started. But it is an x86-64 ELF.

PS for the same v0.8.3 running on 32-bit Raspbian, I note that the message "No native cpu speed library for linux yet... falling back to OS tools" was output (see this screenshot, by another user). Does this still happen using the GUI version on 32-bit Raspbian on an RPi3?
