Did you add 'init=/lib/systemd/systemd' to the kernel command-line?

Look at the output of
Code:
dmesg | grep "Command line"

to see the kernel command-line that was used when the system was booted. Does it contain 'init=/lib/systemd/systemd'?

We do not delete posts as a policy. We leave them as a record in case someone has a similar issue.

Oh, ok then, I understand. Still I apologize for leaving this post unsolved and deleting the description.

Unsolved is not a problem for us, but in future we would prefer it left for posterity. If the problem is abandoned you can edit the OP to say so. There is a large number of such posts here.
