On one machine I am running Gentoo (multilib amd64), and the other Ubuntu cosmic (the experimental branch that is). So I don't think this is going to be an issue about missing or incompatible software at least I don't think. The audio output stream is working as is keyboard/mouse input, and graphics back and forth etc. all works except for a feature the devs have just not gotten around to rolling out for various reason which is audio inputs that work as part of the out of the box solution, what I would like to find out is there any ideas about how I might either rig up ,ALSA or else do some network sinks that could show up on the other computer and in effect trick the software (Valve/Steam gaming platform) to see the mic on the other computer as the local one. By the way both machines use pulseaudio and what is interesting is this is what shows up when starting the streaming game...on my laptop (the client where I sit and play away from the host tower with more powerful gpu).

So basically the first two pictures are showing the streaming audio output while gameplay meaning that I can hear and see everything fine, no hiccups whatsoever.

The other picture, which may not make much sense why I included is the list of audio inputs devices according to pulseaudio. I will try and post back with some more information, but the more I think about the solution that simplest is probably just to invest in a decent wireless headset and plug it directly into the host the serves the stream for gaming and just go from there.

Anyone have a better idea I would be interested in knowing it. I will now see what the process is for a request through developer but they already have a "Feature is in the works" sort of dialogue on the in-home streaming audio interface page of the application.
