I tried looking this up on the wiki, but I couldn't find the answer there. Which python version is prefered for the default python interpreter right now? I'm currently on Python 3.5, is it time to upgrade to 3.6? |

In a stable system the there are python3.5 and python2.7
/usr/portage/profiles/base/make.defaults: | # Mike Gilbert <floppym@gentoo.org> (15 May 2012)
# Default target(s) for python-r1.eclass
# Michał Górny <mgorny@gentoo.org> (22 Jun 2018)
# Updated to python3_6
PYTHON_TARGETS="python2_7 python3_5"
PYTHON_SINGLE_TARGET="python3_5"

I skipped ahead to 3.6 about 8 months ago, haven't had any problems with that. 3.7 is just around the corner but this is probably a safe position for a long time to come, given recent upstream events. |
