Ironic that a file format intended for the archiving and long-term preservation of documents actually renders them unreadable.
Wikipedia wrote: | PDF/A is an ISO-standardized version of the Portable Document Format (PDF) specialized for use in the archiving and long-term preservation of electronic documents. PDF/A differs from PDF by prohibiting features unsuitable for long-term archiving, such as font linking (as opposed to font embedding) and encryption. The ISO requirements for PDF/A file viewers include color management guidelines, support for embedded fonts, and a user interface for reading embedded annotations. |

I cannot confirm this bug. I use app-office/libreoffice-6.0.5.2 and PDF export works as expected - with and without option 'Archive PDF/A-1a'.
Maybe there's something wrong with the binary package? |

turns out the trouble was lack of a file suffix, im sort of surprised google needs file extensions to read them, can libreoffice export with extension in file name? |

That's what it usually does. Unless you have unticked "Automatically select filename extension (.pdf)" in the file dialog. |
