my dmesg regularly spew out the following related to the dnsmasq process.

DBus error: Connection ":1.0" is not allowed to own the service "uk.org.thekelleys.dnsmasq" due to security policies in the configuration file.

How can I find out who or what is 'connection :1.0', and where are these security policies specified ?

1) Do you need dbus support in dnsmasq at all? If not: disable the 'dbus' USE flag.

2) How do you start dnsmasq? With systemd? Do you have a configuration file '/etc/dbus-1/system.d/dnsmasq.conf'? Look here for details.

3) Search at Google for 'dnsmasq dbus "is not allowed to own the service"'. You will find a couple of articles that discuss this problem.
