lightdm hangs for a couple minutes after the first login after boot, if i move the mouse it starts my session up faster. if i log out it works fine after that.

Code:
[Seat:*]
user-session=mate
autologin-user=television
autologin-user-timeout=1
autologin-user-session=mate

any ideas? thanks

bunder,

this is not related to lightdm.
I had the same issue few weeks ago. After long seraching I found this website
https://forum.manjaro.org/t/boot-delay-random-crng-init-done/47182

This worked for me
Code:
emerge sys-apps/haveged
rc-update add haveged boot

I'll try when I get home. I don't have this problem with slim, but slim doesn't do autologin very well... (It works the first time, but then you log out and it sits there forever)

yes that does work, thanks... the question remains though, why does lightdm/lightdm-gtk-greeter need entropy before starting the session?

Apparently it's because LightDM calls getrandom without the GRND_NONBLOCK flag early in the boot process:
