The whole thing could be written off as a miscommunication. Propulsion engineers, like those at Lockheed Martin who built the craft, typically express force in pounds, but it was standard practice to convert to newtons for space missions. One pound of force is about 4.45 newtons. Engineers at NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab assumed the conversion had been made, and didn't check.

Ah, yes. Can't really blame NASA for Lockheed's screw-ups though.

Temps here are supposed to be spiking on Sunday, JB's garden is extra crispy and he's going back to work after 2wks holiday next week.

Shirt + tie in this weather is going to be fun.

It's a reasonable assumption, considering they use metric internally, and they specify their requirements in metric. So whatever unnecessary conversion fuckery Lockheed got up to is a failure to satisfy requirements, and thus their fault. But of course Lockheed wont pay for their mistake, because the government lets major contractors get away with nonsense like that all the time.

Going to hit 36.5 C here Fri. afternoon local, so I'm going with JB's suggestion; in my case an ice cold Belgian style ale.

Or two or three.

I can go so far to as Newcastle, or an american pale ale from poppels. Then I am frickin done with all Ale. I was country around in Edinburough for 4 days, all I drank was different ales for three of those.
Fourth day I said : Give me a Staropramen.
The response from a gal was : We need to try some more!

Screw her...

Just saw an article where UK might record its highest ever temperature sometime this week.

Stay safe and stay hydrated, if you're there (or anywhere with excessive heat).

I'm in Utah, US. Heard the same heat warning....

Don't let the elderly or small children run around outside or they could kick the bucket.

Its nice and cool with scattered showers.

I'm in the middle of GA - the current temps in the UK are normal here.

In spite of that, though, I still hate the heat.

Yep, we need to add blasts of cold air and general bone-penetrating damp, but I'm starting to feel better already.

Ain't right this heat, too foreign.
