I have five different computers and I'm running into problems on one of them... which is frustrating because I can't figure out what's different between them.
When I run a world update, I'm currently getting blocked when updating dev-python/pathlib2

npaust ...
the issue seems to be that your version of dev-python/setuptools doesn't understand the environment markers used in =dev-python/pathlib2-2.3.0's setup. I expect this is because when 2.3.0 was keyworded the developer was using ~arch and so had =dev-python/setuptools-38.5.1 ... and that fact went unnoticed. That or PYTHON_TARGETS was set in a way that doesn't build for python_targets_python2_7.
So, report it, it's a bug ... but you should be able to work around by updating to =dev-python/setuptools-38.5.1 or not building for the python2_7 target.
HTH & best ... khay |

A conclusion on this... I wasn't convinced that there was a bug with pathlib2 because I was getting the error on only one of several computers running the same general software. And pathlib2 wasn't the only package having the same problem.
After poking around trying to emerge packages one by one (and forcing a rebuild of all the things that python 2.7 depends on), I caught a reference to setuptools-0.9.6 in a set of errors. It turns out that there was a version of setup tools from 2014 hanging out in the the python2.7/site-packages directory and it was getting called for python2.7 programs.
I deleted that, and now everything works perfectly. |
