The vast majority of them only need a generic driver to work, like SATA and USB itself do. It's the Broadcom ones (as usual) you have to watch out for…

I got two of this one. There is nothing to do more than have the bluetooth support in Linux. They both work well when plugged in with a theorical Transmission distance: 100 meters.

This one presents itself to the system as a sound card. I got it when BT sound depended on PulseAudio to avoid it.

Code:
lsusb
0a12:1004 Cambridge Silicon Radio, Ltd

aplay -l
card 1: Leaf [Avantree Leaf], device 0: USB Audio [USB Audio]

I have CSR 4.0 , those are cheap from China usually for 2-3 USD.
Its chipset CSR8510. It was working out of the box.

Hey,

the easiest way is to do it with the CSR8510. I bought a DIGITUS DN302101. The dongel works fine out of the box. That was my second purchase. The first was ASUS USB-BT400 with chip BCM20702A1. It was necessary to install patch from github: https://github.com/winterheart/broadcom-bt-firmware

It tinkerd a while and had many problems to pair with sony Sony WH-1000X M2. My last rescue was this post from user Logicien https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-999032-start-0.html

Thanks!
