When kde install was fresh i was able to hookup Android (version 7) phone to pc via USB then browse/transer files, but now it does not work. It is detected:

but after clicking it it brings

it used to just work, but Im not sure what happened.

Probably is a bug, as workaround you can install kde-misc/kdeconnect

Im pretty sure what changed was upgrade from kernel 4.9.x to 4.16.x now that you posted the bug. I have kdeconnect however it excessively drains phone battery even while not running.

Have you enabled MTP mode from Android? You have to enable it every time you plug USB cable, new security feature came couple major versions ago.

If you don't enable mtp mode you can't see device in 'Device notifier'. I have same issue in my system

It seems like an abandoned bug. simple-mtpfs works fine but its just nice to have native integrated kde mounting. Did systemd break non systemd apps agian? https://github.com/systemd/systemd/issues/8221 since this is the bug holding up the whole issue.
