I have configured hddtemp to work on my laptop, my only problem is that it is output some kind of garbage characters for one hard disk,
Code: | # tail -n 2 /usr/share/hddtemp/hddgentoo.db
"ST31000528AS" 194 C "Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB SATA2 7200RPM 32MB"
"HITACHI HTS727550A9E364" 194 C "Hitachi Travelstar 7K500 500GB SATA2 7200RPM 16MB"
# tail -n 2 /usr/share/hddtemp/hdd
hddgentoo.db hddtemp.db
# tail -n 2 /usr/share/hddtemp/hddtemp.db
"Samsung SSD 860 EVO M.2" 190 C "Samsung SSD 860 M.2"
"Samsung SSD 860 EVO 500G B" 190 C "Samsung SSD 860 EVO"
# rc-config ilst^C
# tail -n 2 /usr/share/hddtemp/hddtemp.db
"Samsung SSD 860 EVO M.2" 190 C "Samsung SSD 860 M.2"
"Samsung SSD 860 EVO 500G B" 190 C "Samsung SSD 860 EVO"
# smartctl -a /dev/sdb | grep Temp
190 Airflow_Temperature_Cel 0x0032 063 058 000 Old_age Always - 37
# smartctl -a /dev/sda | grep Temp
190 Airflow_Temperature_Cel 0x0032 063 057 000 Old_age Always - 37
# hddtemp /dev/sda
/dev/sda: Samsung SSD 860 EVO 500G B @: 37°C
# hddtemp /dev/sdb
/dev/sdb: Samsung SSD 860 EVO M.2: 37°C |
Does anyone have any idea why? |

Could this be related to consolefont? Are you able to print unicode characters in the console?

samsung's are just broken i think... i don't have the funny characters but i do have the "g b" and gap, and a random @ at the end.
Code: | /dev/sdd: Samsung SSD 850 EVO 120G B @: 30°C
/dev/sdg: Samsung SSD 850 EVO 120G B @: 33°C
