I chose not to mention it with the last one, but I'm just going to put it out there. I prefer Simon without Garfunkel by a long margin. _________________ Those who know what's best for us must rise and save us from ourselves. |

I like them better when they were together, the difference between them was tempered by the other. But it was good to see each style on it's own. |

This song came to mind while reading some OTW post recently

I thought I would end with style, like hardcore!
I was looking for it and found this : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c8MnW6BCPGo [errata done x2]

Sorry for destroying my own word of mouth, but I like the idea to destroy some algorithms of youtube.Like really fuck it up.

I know they are from the cultural spectrum, where commies are meant to do good things! |

A tribute to lemmy in motörhead...I think:
this is kind of close to 'killed by death'. |

The old stuff (that you've posted) is amusingly entertaining, but I can't say as I'd listen to it much. I have some other stuff like that, but it is rare that I listen to it. From what I've heard of Beck, and why I keep meaning to explore more of his/their music, is that they don't do the same thing over and over. So in that regard, I like the change. I have Mellow Gold, Odelay, Sea Change and Guero (at least I did, I don't seem to have it on disk. hmm). I haven't heard enough of the new album. What I've heard is OK, but will need to hear more of it. _________________ Those who know what's best for us must rise and save us from ourselves. |

Yeah, it's nice to hear song randomly from time to time,.unless your stoned or something.
Odelay was the last album I bought. It was when they started overplaying Devil's Haircut on the radio
Was Sea Change and Guero simmilar to thier previous work?
I wanted to get some more of thier stuff from google or Amazon but the "digital" selection they have available is really lacking. |

I'm not familiar enough to say. I haven't spent much time listening to music in a number of years. It used to be something I did a lot during long commutes. I keep meaning to set something up, but haven't decided on what or how. I'll try and listen to what I have tonight and tomorrow. _________________ Those who know what's best for us must rise and save us from ourselves. |

Was Sea Change and Guero simmilar to thier previous work? | I'd forgotten what Devil's Haircut was. To be honest, Beck wasn't on my radar then. I accidentally came across Guero on a network share one day (among other stuff... bought several things that I'd found) and that's when I became aware of Beck. Of course, I'd heard Devil's Haircut and Loser, but wasn't "aware" of the artist.
Having said that, I've read some consider Guero similar to Odelay. And Morning Phase similar to Sea Change. I think the similarities are more obvious with the latter two than the first two.
Here's how I've ranked them as I listened to them. The first column is just so I could sort them. I started with larger numbers because I had no idea where stuff would land on the list. I'm unlikely to buy the last 3 on the list. I'll most likely get what I don't have of the first five. To put some scale to it, I don't dislike Odelay, but I'd only give it an OK. If I hadn't bought it used, I doubt I'd buy it at this point. I'll have to listen to Mutations again; I might swap its position with Morning Phase.
The second column is the US chart position, just for reference. I've heard some of what's been played of Colors, but not enough to rank it yet. I'd buy it if I had to make a decision, but with a little apprehension. Code: | 5 / 2 Guero
10 / 8 Sea Change
15 / 12 Mellow Gold
20 / 3 Morning Phase
21 / 13 Mutations
30 / 7 The Information
40 / 16 Odelay
70 / 4 Modern Guilt
80 / 34 Midnite Vultures
90 / -- One Foot in the Grave |

This really has been bugging me for a while. I couldn't just remember where I've heard this before.
So, this is a challenge for you guys, if you can remember the original song by not reading the title and/comments from the video, give yourself a cookie (or a beer) _________________ "Defeat is a state of mind. No one is ever defeated, until defeat has been accepted as a reality." -- Bruce Lee |
