More importantly, why would an intelligent, educated person heavily weight what has happened "in my lifetime"? History repeats on what scale? Within individual lifetimes? Um, no. If you think so, read moar books. Start with the topic of anakyklosis.

Or maybe you think only what you've seen for yourself can be relied upon? You'd be in good company with the Flat Earth crowd.

Think, people, think!

There's only been wholesale export of liberty, freedom and democracy.

And regime change(s).

Inside every little gook is an American wanting to break free.

This last page should be moved to the lolgov thread. Get to it, pjp!

Voting is picking the people who I want to run the country. I want certain outcomes, and I am voting for the people that are most likely to provide those outcomes. The fact that Republicans from a hundred and fifty years ago ended slavery is irrelevant.

Sure, everything is cyclical. You don't actually think that Mitch McConnell is going to start cutting deficits next year though, after decades of increasing them?

So you want guilt by accusation alone. Institutionalized racism. A regulatory framework that leads to monopolies. Degeneracy celebrated. And the destruction of meritocracy in favor of "Social Justice".

What proposed or actual democratic bills are you referring to?

Fun counterfactual: Imagine that Trump ran on basically the same platform, but for the democratic party, rather than the republican party.

It's not actually that hard to imagine. Trump has been a democrat previously. And as BK has pointed out, much of Trump's policies are basically the democratic party policies from 30 years ago.

So, if that happened, how many people would have opposite allegiance? Obviously, much of the republican and democratic establishment would. What about the people here?

And you wanted Hillary et al. to run the country. Okay.

Virtually nobody. People didn't vote for Trump or even for the Republican agenda (his platform, albeit aside from some social conservatism, was more consistent with the modern Democrat platform than Obama's or Hillary's); they voted against Hillary and against the corrupt, extremist, Orwellian, Kafkaesque mob of mindlessly hateful, fearmongering, lying bullies the Democratic Party has become of late.

If Democrats keep on the hateful, populist, extremist way they're going, there's going to be another civil war, and it's going to be worse than the last one. The population is not so neatly divided geographically. It will start out as chaotic domestic terrorism and then rapidly evolve into a beseiging of lefties clustered in cities, where they will be systematically starved and culled from the herd for the greater good of Humanity.

I love how you go from accusing the democrats of being hateful to daydreaming about their mass slaughter in two sentences.

It is quite beautiful. The art of rhetoric isn't appreciated well enough these days.

I assume he gets aroused with banter, but I doubt he goes all out for an actual stroke.

Cause and effect being linked is a problem for you? Might need to have your logic circuits checked. Might be why you voted for Hillary.

If you really think that cause and effect is why that paragraph is interesting, you are severely lacking in awareness. Of course, I know you aren't lacking in awareness, so I suppose you are just being difficult.

Trump's tariffs now cost Americans more than Obamacare taxes

One big difference.

The government does not put a gun to my head to FORCE me to by tariffed goods.
