This is a bit weird. I'm installing a Gentoo build on a new HP 15" laptop, with AMD A9 processor, and an UEFI setup. I can't seem to get early console output during the boot - the first I see is IIUC once the AMDGPU driver has loaded; the EFI framebuffer is configured in the kernel, but from what I've read that doesn't necessarily work, and indeed doesn't appear to for me. Whatever, that's a minor niggle.
The bigger niggle is that once SDDM has come up for me to login to KDE, when I go to the tty0...tty12 (ignoring 7, of course) with Ctl-Alt-F1 etc., it's an even chance whether the screen will be readable:
or byte-swapped:
literally; going back to tty7 and KDE may or may not swap it again.
Have I missed something obvious? It's kernel 4.16.2. Locale is en_GB.UTF-8 _________________ Greybeard |
