Hello everybody out there using Gentoo --
This is my first post on the forum and English is not my native language, so sorry for any mistakes.
I have a laptop with NVIDIA Optimus technology ( Intel integrated GPU and discrete NVIDIA GPU ).
I followed this installation procedure:
- Bumblebee 3.2.1 with the last stable nvidia drivers (390.42)
- Added my user to the bumblebee group. (logout/in)
I don't use a display manager to launch my i3-wm but the startx command.
When I try to start bumblebee, it blocks and says "Waiting for xauthority" and result in endless waiting:
Code: | $ sudo rc-service bumblebee start
*Starting VirtualGL ... [OK]
*Waiting for xauthority... |
I installed Lightdm, to see if I had the same error, and no, bumblebee start and run perfectly when i use lightdm to launch i3.
Someone would know how bypass this "xauthority" message ? Because I prefer to not use a display manager to launch i3.
Thank you in advance for any help. |

m3rl1,
Welcome to Gentoo.
News
Bumblebee 3.2.1 has been released on 26 April 2013.
That's five years old.
Bumblebee is no longer required with Optimus graphics systems. The nVidia driver and Xorg can do everything with the correct setup
See the wiki page. In particular the ~/.xinitrc instructions. _________________ Regards,
