Hi everybody , I'm just finish to install gentoo in my desktop , now i have installed X and it works (tested with startx) and lightdm that doesn't work as I aspect :
I have change the value in inittab default level from 3 to 4 and insert in /etc/conf.d/xdm the string "lightdm" instead of xdm , after reboot I came into tty login environment and no in lightdm as I aspected . but the strange thing is that if after login in tty run the command lightdm it run as usual without any problem ...
could somebody help me to understand what I have to do to ? I use openrc not systemctl

thanks in advance

Any particular reason for changing the default runlevel?

Do you have xdm (not "lightdm") in your

# rc-update show xdm

If not,
# rc-update add xdm default

Was that the problem (if so, please mark topic as solved) or is it still not working with it added into the default runlevel?
If it's still not working, did it at least start X11 and give a log?
