I use to be able to use k3b to create audio CDs, converting non-DRM podcasts
to a CD that plays in a standard CD-Player or DVD Player.

k3b would convert to a wav file and then burn the cd. After 4 attempts that will not play in other than my computer
I wonder if anyone else has run into the problem. I've checked software and I see nothing wrong there.
The reason for this conversion is that I actually know people, who can not easily play mp3 file. If I give them
a cd they have easy access.

Any ideas? Many searches found no satisfactory solutions.

TIA

No idea what that issue is. I use k3b to burn music CDs and have no issue playing them in any CD player.

Burning from .ogg, wav, mp3, flac... it always works.

The only similar issue I recall was leaving a session open for additional writing. I don't recall if that was only for data CDs. But I do believe only some devices could read CDs with an open session.

Could it be dust corrupting the writes?

CD/DVD drives can get quite dusty inside. There's fans blowing air out the back of the computer. All that air needs to come in from somewhere. Ideally there's blower fans in the front. But often that isn't enough, especially if the filter is clogged. So some of the air rushes thru all those cracks in the sliding door and whatnot on the front panel, bringing dust inside. If enough gets on the lenses it won't work as well. Writing is the first thing to fail.

Remove the drive, open the cover, and take a look. Blow it out if necessary. If anyone smokes in the same room, that's another source of contamination for the optics.

Also, some brands of recordable media have terrible quality and degrade quickly. Try a different brand see if that makes a difference.

People still use CDs? Are you sure you wouldn't rather put it on DAT? Or maybe player piano rolls?

Yes, some still use CDs. I have multimedia I can give away to people, who do not use computers or even smart phones.

In the recent case I found eBooks that some people will never read, but may be of use while driving. Some may be able to put an mp3 on their phone
or more limited on a thumb drive. My intent is for access to the broadest audience and access even while not in front of a computer.

I discovered an interesting point after a recent post. My expensive Sony DVD player will not play audio CDs from k3b, but will play commercial
CDs. The Magnavox plays both and cost 1/3 the Sony.

Thanks
