dev-embedded/ponyprog fails to compile (since gcc-6.4.0?)

During the huge recompile after introducing the new ABIs with GCC 6.4.x I had a couple of packages that failed. Most seem to have received patches by now, but

=dev-embedded/ponyprog-2.07c-r2

fails to compile (it is the only version in portage).

The compiler throws a bazillion of warnings ( cat /var/log/portage/dev-embedded:ponyprog-2.07c-r2:20180413-165218.log |grep -i warning ) that seem to relate to typecasting(?). There are also some errors and relatively quickly it hits the wall and breaks. I don't know how many people care, but I thought it was one of the popular tools for microcontroller development and the likes.
I guess the errors need upstream changes.
The website lists a new version (v2.08d BETA), maybe that works better and could be bumped into portage?

Should I possibly file a bug report about this? (I found only one unrelated from 2017)
