Hello,
I want to try again to enable the Nvidia GPU on my laptop Dell XPS 9560. Last attempt was in this thread, however, I realized that there was something strange going on with the Intel GPU as well.
So, now I disabled the Nvidia card and I am only using the integrated Intel card.
If I use GDM (launched through "systemctl start graphics.target") everything works fine. I have been using the laptop for several months like that. If instead I launch "startx" from command line, keeping everything else the same, I get a blank screen (not off, the screen is on but entirely black).
xorg-server is version 1.19.5-r1
xorg-drivers is 1.19
My .xinitrc (when running startx) is simply
Xorg.log with GDM
Xorg.log with startx
Relevant xorg.conf is
Code: | Section "Monitor"
Identifier "Monitor0"
VendorName "Unknown"
EndSection
Section "Device"
Identifier "intel"
Option "ConnectedMonitor" "DFP-1"
Option "CustomEDID" "DFP-1:/root/edid"
BusID "PCI:0:2:0"
EndSection
Section "Screen"
Identifier "intel"
Device "intel"
Monitor "Monitor0"
SubSection "Display"
Depth 24
Modes "3840x2160"
EndSubSection
EndSection |
What am I missing? |
