I am running Thunderbird 52.6.0 on my amd64 KDE system. I have an odd thing happening: When I start up and log in, I get two copies of Thunderbird running. I can close one with no problem, but I am puzzled about why it happens.

You installed some addons? You have tried to disable them to see if it's the problem?

sounds almost like a saved session problem, but afaik you shouldn't regularly be allowed to run two instances without using separate thunderbird profiles.

what happens if you close all programs, log out and back in, start thunderbird, then log out and back in again?
