Hi Experts, the requirement is to get Unicast PTP Slave configured on my Gentoo Box. I have installed linuxptp application, however I DONOT see ptp.conf and ptpd2.conf under /etc/. On my other Gentoo box, I ran
Quote:
emerge linuxptp
and it automatically created the 2 files -

cat /etc/ptp.conf
Code:
 [global]
 2 verbose 1
 3 time_stamping hardware
 4 tx_timestamp_timeout 100
 5 [enp4s0]

cat /etc/ptpd2.conf
Code:
1 ; ==============================================================================
 2 ; This is a minimal configuration for a PTPv2 slave
 3 ; For a full list of options run ptpd2 -H or see the documentation and man pages.
 4 ;
 5 ; NOTE: for best results, do read the ptpd2.conf(5) man page as many settings
 6 ;       such as outlier filters and statistics filters can greatly improve
 7 ;       the operation of PTPd.
 8 ; ==============================================================================
 9
10 ; interface has to be specified
11 ptpengine:interface=enp4s0
12
13 ; PTP domain
14 ptpengine:domain=0
15
16 ; available presets are slaveonly, masteronly and masterslave (full IEEE 1588 implementation)
17 ptpengine:preset=slaveonly
18
19 ; multicast for both sync and delay requests - use hybrid for unicast delay requests
20 ptpengine:ip_mode=multicast
21
22 ; when enabled, sniffing is used instead of sockets to send and receive packets
23 ptpengine:use_libpcap=n
24
25 ; log file, event log only. if timing statistics are needed, see statistics_file
26 global:log_file=/var/log/ptpd2.log
27
28 ; status file providing an overview of ptpd's operation and statistics
29 global:log_status=y
30
31 ; required if ip_mode is set to hybrid
32 ;ptpengine:log_delayreq_interval=0
33
34 ; uncomment this to log a timing log like in previous ptpd versions
35 ;global:statistics_file=/var/log/ptpd2.stats
36
37 ; always keep a new line in the end

Secondly, for unicast PTP to work, I need to define the mode of it and the PTP Server IP Address so that the PTP Slave which is my Gentoo box knows where to send the PTP Requests to. What would be the syntax for it and should it be defind under /etc/ptpd2.conf file ??

Appreciate all your help and thanks in advance.
