|
|
I have been struggling to get a micro HDMI to VGA adapter I recently bought working with my laptop. It is running gentoo kernel 4.12.12, with Intel HD Graphics 520 (Skylake). Everything works fine on my laptop's screen, but when I try to plug the micro HDMI adapter, connected to a monitor, into the micro HDMI port on my laptop, it doesn't get detected. What's weird is that if I put video=HDMI-A-1 on the kernel command line, the output works perfectly fine, and I can manipulate it using xrandr, however with that enabled, xrandr always shows it as connected, even if the adapter is disconnected, which I don't want.
Output of xrandr --verbose

Output of cat /sys/class/drm/card0-HDMI-A-1/status
What seems weird to me is the output of cat /sys/class/drm/card0-HDMI-A-1/enabled
which seems to me like the output is being actively disabled by something?
My xorg.conf
Code: |
Section "Device"
Identifier "Device0"
BusID "PCI:00:02:0"
Driver "modesetting"
EndSection
|
I have tried manually enabling the output with xrandr
Code: |
dylan@dylan-laptop ~ % xrandr --addmode HDMI-1 1920x1080
dylan@dylan-laptop ~ % xrandr --output HDMI-1 --mode 1920x1080 --right-of eDP-1
xrandr: Configure crtc 1 failed
|
(1920x1080 is a supported mode on this monitor)
Some additional information:
I am using i3wm gaps. My laptop is an ASUS ZenBook UX305LA.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance! |
