I don't know about the propolice option (I'm not using it) but a regular compile of glibc 2.3.2-r3 will now work on sparc. |

Hmm whats so special about -r3?
Code: |
# genlop glibc
* sys-libs/glibc
Merged at Tue Nov 11 21:26:24 2003 (glibc-2.3.2-r8)
# uname -m
sparc64

I had many identical failures compiling glibc2.3.2-r3 on my sparc.
I was emerging within an eterm. The compile failure
consistantly destroyed my eterm (but not X Windows).
So I never saw the actual text of what was failing.
I decided to drop down to a console and try there so I could see the
details of any segfault, etc. Then it worked fine.
At first I assumed the source it was grabbing had been updated recently.
But...
I went home and emerged the same update on my x86 box.
It also blew up the eterm when trying to emerge glibc2.3.2-r3.
The window manager is different, but both situations had x11 and eterm
in common. Again, dropping to a console screen solved the problem -
I was able to emerge glibc2.3.2r-3. |

So i typed in emerge -u protage as the directions for sparc go, and i come back today, since i am a student and had to go to class but i had an error calculating dependencies so i tried "emerge glibc-2.3.2-r3 and kept getting same error over and over again. I tried emerge -p gblic and i saw the same file. So i finally gave up so to speak and i type emerge gblic and it got the same file i was specifying for the a couple minutes. I understand the experimental side of this since i am using one of the experimental ISOs on a sunblade 150 but so far so good its going again :-p |
