Having an issue with KDE 5 whenever I launch it, the kwalletmanager manager asks for password, WHY does it not remember it? What should be done to correct this.

This is the default behavior for KDE, and isn't incorrect. However, you are free to change this.

Kwallet stores passwords to services accessed through KDE apps (like say, kmail), so that you do not need to enter those passwords every time you open such an application. Kwallet is protected by a master password, which it asks you to input when you log in. You do have the option of setting the kwallet password to the same password as your user account. Once that is done, you can then change a few things to cause kwallet to automatically unlock in the background upon log in. Arch has some documentation here:

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/KDE_Wallet

In short, you will just need to install "kde-plasma/kwallet-pam" and "kde-apps/signon-kwallet-extension" packages, then add a couple of lines to /etc/pam.d/sddm in the appropriate sections:

Code:
auth     optional  pam_kwallet5.so
session  optional  pam_kwallet5.so auto_start

However, it's been a while since I've set this up on Gentoo, so I'm not sure if those lines get added automatically or not.

We don't need Arch for documentation: https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/KDE#KWallet_auto-unlocking

Ha, I just found that page on the Gentoo Wiki! The Gentoo docs are more helpful here.

Note that even if you follow the instructions, kwallet will still
request a password if you logon with a fingerprint reader

I would love to know how to disable kwallet requests under
that condition ...
