How does it work there?
Here we have to break a glass and then pull a lever or push a button.

Why I am asking is how authentic the series I am watching is. Crime investigators obviously did not find that anyone had pulled the alarm.
Is that even possible over there?

There are several mechanisms in place, depending on the building, to set off fire alarms. We have all the mechanisms you described and more. When I was in high school I did maintenance at a hotel. They had hallway pull levers. There was also a pressure switch in the sprinkler system meant to detect that the sprinklers had gone off somewhere in the building. We did have some issues with the system from time to time where we (not being detectives mind you) were never able to figure out why it went off.

If you give me more details I might better be able to help you figure out if they are being true to the systems I'm familiar with. Again, I'm not a fire alarm expert, and as I already said there are many different solutions in place depending on the building (age being a huge factor as well as budget and use of the building).

Cheers!

Yeah..I think you did not take me seriously...
Wow...
Just...
WOW!
If there were a plane of existence where you and I could talk freely, wouldn't that be amazing?
No, do not answer that.

So, the series was OK with not seeing the alarm going OFF?
US is just that retarded?
For those not in the know - This was the synopsis from the start of this thread.

If I am understanding you correctly then: yes. There are some fire alarm pulls that do not require one to break any glass.

In the motel I mentioned that I worked in years ago none of the hallway fire alarm pulls required breaking glass. They did require a maintenance key to shut-off. So a "prankster" couldn't simply pull one for a moment and then reset it themselves. We would always at least know which fire alarm pull was used. Not that it ever helped much without security cameras, but that's the system we had back then.

If I've misunderstood you, I'm sorry! Try again?
