|Just ran into this problem tonight, and the the fix on the MakeMKV forums.
Versions of MakeMKV greater than 1.10.8 will require that SCSI generic support be in your kernel (compiled or module is fine).
The kernel config is CONFIG_CHR_DEV_SG, and when built as a module, it is "sg" and will be loaded automatically.
SCSI generic just gives fancy /dev/sg* to existing SCSI devices, such as your hard-drives or optical drives -- that's it.
MakeMKV looks for /dev/sg* instead of /dev/sr* now.
If it ain't broke, tweak it. packages | dvds | blurays | blog | wiki
