Quote:
The school shooting in Parkland, Florida, that claimed 17 lives has provoked an eruption of impassioned calls for action against gun violence from young survivors, community leaders and a reeling sheriff left shell-shocked from one of the worst massacres in modern American history.

At a Thursday press conference, local officials lined up to express their determination that something must now be done to stem the bloodletting in America’s schools and other public places. The shooting ranked among the top 10 deadliest gun rampages in the country, three of which have happened in the past four months.

“The violence has to stop. We cannot lose another child in this country to violence in a school,” said Florida’s governor, Rick Scott, promising to meet state lawmakers to search for solutions on mental illness and gun control. The sheriff in charge of Broward County, Scott Israel, called the event a “horrific, horrific day” and urged the public to do more to report suspicions: ““Don’t think about calling us – call us,” he said.

The official in charge of public schools in Broward County, which includes Marjory Stoneman Douglas high school, the scene of Wednesday’s tragedy, said: “Now, now is the time for this country to have a real conversation on sensible gun control laws.”

Are we coming closer to stricter gun control? Maybe a banning of semi-automatic weapons rifles?

To whom are they pleading? It is the behavior that is the problem.

Put armed cops in lolgov schools and get rid of those stupid "gun free zones". Murderous psychopaths know where they can find a bunch of disarmed victims with no protection.

Your ability to reason, combined with the apparent fact that you believe you should express yourself, poses a threat to the agenda of the state. You should tread carefully.

And here I thought your thread title indicated you were interested in the actual problem.

FYI, this thread looks like it will do well for future "gun control" threads.

I wonder why terrorist always take so much trouble in creating a bomb while you can just buy a semi auto, except for the guys that actually do buy a semi auto and kill everybody but those aren't terrorists of course.

I've been thinking about this, and best thing I can come up with is:

1. Armed police at every school.
2. Kick in the door of anyone who even jokes about this online. If they are found to be a prankster, then they are charged with a misdemeanor.
3. Anyone expelled from high school cannot legally purchase a rifle until the age of 21 as opposed to 18.

No it's not. Active shooters hate armed resistance. I can count with my dick the number of times an active shooter has hit an armed position. This school had a single deputy assigned to it, and that guy was a mysterious no-show.

If someone wants to shoot someone in a classroom why have an armed policeman in the gym?

This guy pulled the fire alarm and mowed people as they rushed out. An armed policeman would have done nothing.

Armed police don't stop shootings in the US so why think that putting them in schools would work?

Curious. You have access to empirical data that I do not. Please cite this information so that I can assimilate it into my reasoning.

That way only black students have to deal with gun violence.

That school was a gun free zone. Obviously it must be fake news that this guy used a gun since guns were not allowed on school grounds.

At this rate Mexico's going to build that border wall on its own to keep warzone refugees out.

Are you comparing gun violence in the U.S. to the cartels?

Why is it shocking? Are children valued less than our money kept in banks, or government agencies kept behind barricades, or our congress or White House? Why does the Left feign concern about children until it comes time to DO SOMETHING RELEVANT?

I guess some people only pretend to care about children when it can be politically weaponized.

Only a Sith deals in absolutes. Listen, I do not give a flying fuck about what a stable person chooses to spend their money on. But raving lunatics, I don't want them having any damn weapons.

But raving lunatics aren't really the concern, are they? How many have been quite clearly definable as "raving lunatics" prior to the shootings? Which makes the issue more "if you go to the doctor for help," are you too much of a risk?

No. You become too much of a risk when you have a history of violence and then broadcast to the world that you're going to be a professional school shooter.

More like, "If you don't have health insurance, you're screwed and left alone with your lunacy, but at least the government made it easy for you to buy a gun".
