Uh, I think the Treasure Valley area (pop. 664K) had a murder last January.
that's still higher than the UK :P

Plus there's never been any murder here in recent history

Cokey, he could have stopped right there, and blown your pathetic argument out of the water. The murder rate is not dependent upon the tool used, whether it is a gun, knife, or baseball bat. It is societal, pure and simple. Your society. This shit did not happen like this when I was just a kid like you.

It's never been that low (it was 4.9 last year, up from 4.4 the year previously, thanks Trump...). Plus come back when it's lower than 1.

Also, your homicide rate is actually much higher than the 4+ because that doesn't count police brutality so you can add another 987 to the list, mins the 10-15 who probably had to be shot

The Serfdom is strong in this one.

cokey is one of the very few people I know that wants less personal freedoms (besides the hedonistic ones) and more government control over his life.

I'm sorry, did you think I was talking about the United States? The average concentration of firearms in the U.S. as a whole isn't anywhere near potent enough to make the original point.

Ah, my mistake. I wonder why Idaho has a higher murder rate considering the UK has much many more dangerous places and large immigration problem.

We have places even police won't go remember

London's murder rate so far this year is 1.2 per 100,000.

http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-43628494

Plus, you need to see the difference between a state as in Idaho, and a country as in the United States of America.

Well, his pathetic little country is only the size of a state, especially when you consider they've lost all the shit they conquered going all the way back to 1296 now. They'd be a minor province of France or Germany, or Europistan, if it weren't for the mighty U.S.A.

Surely that reinforces my argument? If a country as small but with such a high population, with immigration problems and endemic knife violence still has a rate lower than the lowest place in the US then they're doing something right, no?

Then you have London which is so violent that police won't go there (according to Trump) and it's still lower!

London is NOT lower. 1.2 is not lower than 1.2.

I'm glad to see you finally admit you have an immigration problem. Thank the undemocratic EU for that.

Depends. Are you counting the 46% of your population not born in the UK?

I'm counting all of Britain. With our homicide rate being lower than the best US states it obviously proves that we are doing something right and not all of that is social conditioning because the UK is very similar to the US in most ways - there is a reason for the 'special relationship'.

A good example is that we have cities that are just as violent as yours but the fact remains our murder rate is less than a quarter of yours. If I were to offer an opinion why I would probably point to a) more people surviving, b) less opportunity for large-scale atrocities making it not worth it, and c) a more efficient police force.

Maybe your penal system should be updated? The US seems to focus on punishment whereas ours is more geared to rehabilitation. Conditions shouldn't be easy but if they were less harsh then perhaps the "blaze of glory" endings may reduce. That is purely speculation though.

Anyway, the fact remains that having a society obsessed by guns is going to gravitate towards them when it comes to the unhinged. And as much people like to think that the answer is to just keep guns out of the hands of the unhinged, people don't get born that way, if they become that way one day an unhinged person has legally procured guns from when they were normal

So what? Your negligible homicide rate is neglibly lower than our negligible homicide rate. The difference is not worth sacrificing the foundational human rights of self defense and self determination. And, you tossers also have limited freedom of speech, bad teeth, and you still kneel before a king! So sod the fuck off. Come back and give advice when you're not helpless and dependent on our protection and you believe in human rights.
