Now that the kde4-to-kde5 transition is complete, I'm wondering whether I can delete the ~/.kde4 directory in my home directory. I assume it isn't touched any more and all settings and caches have migrated to ~/.config and ~/.local. There is one thing that makes me not act right away on my assumption: one file at least ~/.kde4/share/config/kdeglobals is being touched on startup, but I do not know by which program and why. Any insights welcome.

See if you still have kde4/qt4 apps installed:
Code:

equery d kdelibs
equery h kde
equery h qt4

I do not. (BTW, `eix --installed-with-use …` is more convenient.)

I think that is the same issue. I'm continuing there.
