skypeforlinux-8.13.0.2 does not work for me - signup blue screen appears, and then goes all white (with menubar on top). skypeforlinux-8.11.0.4 works ok. what is your experience ?

I am with kde-plasma, so all gnome-keyring dependencies had to be emerged, and there is a chance may be misconfigured, but what else can I look at ?

The latest stable version of Skype Preview for Linux ( Version 8.13.0.2 ) is running well in Lubuntu 17.10 (LXDE) on my family's tower PC with external USB Webcam with built-in microphone.

The latest unstable version of Skype Preview for Linux ( Version 8.13.76.8 ) is running well in Gentoo amd64 arch and KDE on my Clevo W230SS laptop with internal Webcam and microphone.

Have you tried Version 8.13.76.8? I use the ebuild from the Rion overlay.

(The Microsoft repository for the unstable version is https://repo.skype.com/rpm/unstable/ and the Microsoft repository for the stable version is https://repo.skype.com/rpm/stable/).

Thanks, I was just trying what Gentoo portage make available. I'll play 8.13.76.8 out of tree, while keeping 8.11 for now.

Alas, 8.13.76.8 did not work for me as well :( The difference with 8.13.0.2 is that after blue login and white screen, it goes back to blue, get white again,
does it 4 times and then quits. Something with my KDE perhaps

skypeforlinux-8.13.0.2 works for me, but can't see my video camera. Previous versions did, and mplayer does.

I did manage to get it run past login screen on other two machines I have, but there it follows bug https://bugs.gentoo.org/644296 failing to detect speakers and microphone, but detecting camera on my pure ALSA setup (no pulseaudio)

skypeforlinux crashes also on my system (kernel 4.9.72, fluxbox 1.3.7-r3 and pulseaudio 11.1). Also tried with the official versions for linux (deb and rpm)...no success.

Last working version of skype was 4.3, but now a message comes up telling you about an updated version and you are not allowed to skip such update.

Any clue to get my skype meeting back?

I usually keep a virtual machine for this. For Lync/Skype for Business particularly.

Have a windows guest VM, but that's not the solution.

I'm using net-im/skypeforlinux for usual Skype contacts and x11-plugins/pidgin-sipe for Skype for Business (formerly Lync). The latter still has issues with Voice calls, but works for basic chat.

It works more or less, I think I don't have enough computing power for Skype.
i5 with 6gb seems to be too small for the power-hungry window system.

One of my Linux machines has a dual-core Pentium G2030 (3GHz) with 4GB RAM, and skypeforlinux-8.29.0.50 runs very well (including video calls), so your hardware spec. should be more than adequate to run Skype for Linux.
