As the title implies, I'm trying to install pcsx2 without success. The build fails during the compile phase, with simply "emake failed" and no other error message I can see. I attempted also to clone the repository and build it myself, which results in some errors which appear to do with the differences between the headers for the 32/64 bit versions of wxwidgets. I haven't figured that out either, but it might be related.

When you build in parallel, you may need to look back farther in the build log to find the error. In this case, the error is:
Code:
   197   [01m/usr/include/glib-2.0/glib/gtypes.h: In function ‘gboolean _GLIB_CHECKED_ADD_U64(guint64*, guint64, guint64)’:
   198   /usr/include/glib-2.0/glib/gtypes.h:423:3: error: size of array ‘_GStaticAssertCompileTimeAssertion_0’ is negative
   199      G_STATIC_ASSERT(sizeof (unsigned long long) == sizeof (guint64));

yes, I just noticed this myself. This has the smell of some kind of multilib bug, but unfortunately I haven't been able to determine a solution yet. Any ideas?
Thanks!

UPDATE:
I discovered that the reason for the issue is that the build was for some reason using /usr/local/include/glibconfig.h for definitions, which is the 64bit version of the header, rather than the 32bit version at /usr/lib32/glib-2.0/include/glibconfig.h. pcsx2 is of course a 32bit build, so this threw the error.

I temporarily replaced the glibconfig.h in /usr/local/include with the 32 bit version, and the build succeeded! However, I will not mark this solved as thats a very hacky solution, and the ebuild itself should choose the correct version of the header file. It could easily be an error on my end or with my system, and in that case I'd still like some guidance as to what mistake I made.

Thank you all!

In general, stuff that is put in /usr/local, were put in outside of portage. So anything that was put in there, are non-portage software file(s).

I haven't been able to figure out exactly what put it there, but I am going to mark this as solved since it seems to have been an error of my own creation. However, if anyone has any insight into why the portage decided to use that header, rather than either of the two in the normal locations, I would appreciate the knowledge.

Thanks

Searching /usr/local is standard specifically to support administrators installing things outside the package manager. The problem comes when your package manager installs one version, your local administrator installs a different incompatible version, and then the requiring package picks one while the package manager expected it to pick the other.
