Screen brightness function keys for laptop not working.

Im sure they work since I can change brightness with xbacklight, however not with native function keys, kernel-config;

Are you using kde-plasma/powerdevil-5.12.0? There is a bug where brightness keys don't work in this version: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=389845
