hi there,

Im trying to use my ur28m soundcard. So far the system can recognize the card and plays audio but not dry
, i can hear some reverb on top of everything.
All channels are playing the same thing.

When i open Pulse Audio Volume Control it reads Steinberg UR28M multichannel

I would like to use the separate channels in ardour but how is this done.
Has someone more experience with multi-channel audio cards?

here is my alsa-info.sh

can someone translate this video please https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sdrU4l9VEtg

Ardour and PulseAudio? That's a match made in hell.

Hm, it's pretty bare with its feature detection - you'll probably be much better off with jack in that case. It's possible to make your setup work in PA, but in this case it's not worth the effort required.

I also have a steinberg UR28M interface and have exactly the same problems as OP described. I'm using Debian 9 and found that although the USB interface is recognized there seemed to be reverb over everything and I couldn't change the levels of any of the channels.

I managed to fix this when i found out about the "Class Compliant" mode: http://download.steinberg.net/downloads_hardware/UR28M/UR28M_documentation/UR28M_OperationManual_en.pdf

Quote:
Turn on the device while holding down OUTPUT button C, and keep pressing the OUTPUT C button until an INPUT meter/OUTPUT meter flashes. The UR28M enters Class Compliant mode for Apple iPad connectivity. While in the Class Compliant mode, the power button flashes several times by pressing the power button. To turn off the Class Compliant mode, turn on the power while holding down OUTPUT button C again

After turning on Class Compliant mode everything sounded right. No more reverb!
I don't use linux for recording or making music though, so I'm not sure if Class Compliant mode affects that. But for plain listening it's just what I wanted.
