[RESOLVED] google maps colour is washed out

Does anybody know if this washed out colour scheme is from a google maps setting, a desktop font/colour setting or a browser setting? I'm seeing the same thing in firefox.

It only looks this way on my linux computer. I tried it in some linux VMs on the same desktop and the colour was the same regardless of whether or not I'm signed into my google account.
