Genetic difference between humans and Neanderthals falls within the range of differences between modern humans today. This is the argument used to claim "there is no such thing as race". If that's true, then there's no such thing as cave men either (i.e., the same logic means Neanderthals are "modern humans" too).

Try to grasp what I'm saying above.

They've finished sequencing Neanderthal Genome, and one of the surprising findings is that there's more genetic variation between modern humans (particularly if you include Africans) than between modern humans and Neanderthals.

Also, it seems genocide, or other things that wiped out entire tribes and even races (or, rather, hominin sub-species sub-classifications or whatever) was a very big part of life because it happened almost all the time, in virtually every case. Now, the fact that one group magically did seem to survive causes my Occam's Razor to lean in the direction of genocide, be that violence or by some other form of competition.

Code:
I haven't watched the linked video, I can't be arsed

So the argument is that neanderthals are not a valid genus (which is correct) and that there are no 'races'.
Therefore the term 'breeds' should be used instead. We use that for domestic dogs and cats do we not? Interfertile and therefore the same genus.

I concur. "Breed" is more accurate, and even "cave person" is offensive to those of us who are as much as 4% Neanderthal. I mean, hey, if being 8% some living ethnic minority gets you recognized as such, then I think we have to start thinking about our Neanderthal minority too.

I watched the video, yet there seems to be a contradiction. Does this not throw the Out of Africa Theory out the window?

Not really, because the Neanderthals and Denisovans evolved from something else (Homo Erectus or Habilis) which came out of Africa.

If you want to not be African in origin, you can argue that if you go back far enough, we evolved from something that did not originate in Africa. Of course, that ancestor probably looked about like this.

Trying to determine where one's origins are without a timestamp associated is just silly.

As Carl Sagan so famously stated "We are made of starstuff.”

I've heard from a few friends who have.

Seems rubbish. The latest snake-oil available.

Again, seems.

[Edit] Nice (as in accurate and horrific) link pjp! [/Edit]

Depends on how you define rubbish and/or snake-oil. It has been used to identify relatives of those who did not know their biological family. Additional sleuthing and information was required, but success was heavily dependent upon related people submitting their DNA to make the match(es).

Oh, and it can also inform you of whether or not you have a propensity for certain health problems. Which is related to the fear that insurance companies and employers may abuse that information.

It has also caused serious pain by dragging all sorts of skeletons out of family closets.
