I've read somewhere that there is a chance of flash disappearing by 2020, do you see that happening? And which of the two do you support?

I think because now with html5, javascript, webgl,... you can create what you want as dynamic content.
Flash was born when create dynamic content with the standards was impossible or very difficult and for this has been successful.
Apple (ios), google (youtube),... they dropped flash for HTML5 content, for adobe makes no sense investing in flash.

Anyone know of a non-browser Flash player application? Every web browser I've tested refuses to play local Flash content now, or flash content accessed by any protocol other than HTTP or HTTPS.

www-plugins/gnash has a standalone player. www-plugins/lightspark may work better on newer files.
