Old JB, he stopped off for his weekly shop today and lo ! There was bugger all stock in, apart from me beer thank God.

It's two sodding days, why do people panic buy ? I dread to think what will happen if a real catastrophe, like Corbyn winning the next election, happens.

The strangest thing was that the store had run out of fishcakes too.

In what universe are fishcakes survival food ?

Maybe there's a bunch of Japanese tourists in town.

We're supposed to get a foot of snow tonight.

And it's back, along with cold number 320 for old JB. On the plus side I have an excuse not to clear the driveway on account of feeling so crappy.

OK - it's jolly cold here in Birmingham, but JB, he's had the day off work and a hearty cooked breakfast (featuring a guest appearance from black pudding) to help stave the worst of the elements off.

And ..

There was supposed to be snow this morning. Honestly, I think I'm going to start getting me forecasts from the local vagrants, the ones that yell out nonsensical madness.

Also, in related news, I hear that certain parts of the US are a bit chilly too.

It had been my intention to taunt about the high lattitude radiation exposure when you go to view those Northern Lights, but then I found this

Levels of radiation and brightness from our star vary, with peaks in both occurring approximately every 11 years. The more sunspots appear on the surface, the more active the sun becomes and the more protons it sends our way. But the sun also has much longer phases, and currently, it is at a grand solar maximum – a phase that began in the 1920s. During this phase, the peaks of the solar cycle are larger and huge magnetic storms on the surface of the Sun, called coronal mass ejections (CMEs) or solar flares, are more frequent. These events fill space with streams of high-energy protons and electrons, some of which quickly reach Earth.

Are we coming out of the Grand Solar Maximum? Is that where all of this cooling is coming from?

Sorry, stuck at MCO with a cancelled non-stop flight home, that is now a two leg, much longer, much later, rebooking.

I have watched those lights off to my south while cruising 78n, we didn’t have the required polar gear for that flight.

I've got plans to snowshoe the Crater Lake Rim Road in 3 weeks. I figure most of 4 days and 3 nights to make the circuit.
