And as predicted transport-wise everything seems to have collapsed. A police advisory delivered via the wireless has warned people to be ready for anything.

Martian invasion ?

yesterdays "little shower" was enough to make the large snowball in the middle of my garden. Now at 9:30 3" of new snow!!!! I have already gone out to clear the drive and 10min later I can't see the pavement

Not too bad at the moment, I'm sitting here in me long johns (extra thermal) doing nothing productive whatsoever, and one of me radiators has packed up.

Tomorrow, I have work and I use the bus.

Just waiting for the dogs from over the road to be let out, first time they've seen snow and in normal conditions they're sick with excitement.

Just go to the pub. This isn't America where the nearest pub is 40km away.

It's all over (my part) of London. Unfortunately one of the children has an event today, so I do actually have to manage through this and get somewhere.

And the buses have completely stopped running.

On the plus side, I have an excuse to not go to work tomorrow, if they stay like that.

Yes it fine - only about five and half miles or so, walked back from work (different job) a few years back that was four (ish).

Thing is, the reward for getting in, is the work load that everybody else normally does because they couldn't be arsed to turn up.

It's been snowing here since yesterday, a snowstorm. We're expected to be at work tomorrow.

Still snowing, can't even clear the luddy drive, old JB had been planning to do that around about now (they said it'd be letting up).

I have prepared pemmican for tomorrow's trek to work, I'll try and report back.

I am three miles, but the snow isn't that bad here. I will be at work.

yup still snowing :)

I was able to roll my big snowball a bit more to make it even bigger, so I turned it into a snowman. Out the front I made 2 snowforts (the old birmingham recycle crates were perfect to make snow bricks!!!)
What was amusing was my neighours are german and its almost like they have been conditioned from birth as every few minutes they were back to cleaning their drive & path (I waited until just before going back inside)

appologies, JB has great fear of the left in the UK. To ensure he does not offend anyone, safewords are chosen..

a luddy drive is a bloody drive as the bloody drive is covered in snow.

I've experienced a few snow storms a month ago in Iceland, pretty shitty stuff.
It's good to be back home where it's normal to have a sunshine and 22-25 degrees in December.

Well it's still snowing \o/ at roughly 5pm my daughter wiped all the snow off the birdbath. This is now 4inches deep so who knows how much has fallen. Was around 7" at lunchtime

Funnage. I'll try and put a roof on my snowfort tomorrow with the kids BUT I gotta work as well :(

Trying to put a roof on your snow fort will prove you a failure as an engineer.

To save face with the kids, you will resort to using wood or the like, and it will look like some kind of fucked up shanty. It will be a shit-show.

Stick to something you can handle, like a short, two-part snowman. Only Eskimos and actual mechanical engineers can make roofs out of snow. Trust me, you don't have what it takes, and you'll find out the hard way and forever lose the respect of your family.
