Hi,

I use official GNOME with systemd on my notebook, what I originally migrated from openrc.

I still have a circular dependency

sys-apps/openrc-0.34.11 pulled in by:
@system requires sys-apps/openrc
net-misc/netifrc-0.5.1 requires >=sys-apps/openrc-0.15

installed. Can I safely --unmerge it or are components like used in a systemd setup?

Add: I would uninstall also virtual/service-manager

Regards
Spargeltarzan

Do not uninstall virtual/service-manager as this is actually what's in the @system set. sys-apps/systemd satisfies the service-manager virtual. Also, I don't believe a systemd installation uses netifrc.

After the last update world emerge --depclean selected netirfc and openrc to be un-merged. It stated a warning that virtual/service-manager is within the @system set, and my system could be harmed. I was a bit afraid because docu says netirfc might be used by systemd as well. However, it is unmerged now and everythings works as supposed. (virtual/service-manager is still installed)
