Hello Gentoo!

In the last month I noticed, that many older lovely games get keyworded. (supertuxkart, penguin-command, ut2004, sauerbraten, knights, supertux...)
Why does this happen? No maintainer any more? Did all migrated to steam?

Mostly I am afraid of getting lost of ut2004 (which was the motivation of getting gentoo to 64bit in these days, and is still lot of fun).
The ebuild is somehow broken, but an emerge -e @world doesn't use ut2004-data, so it doesn't break the rebuild. Interesting.

Must I be afraid that they will fall out of the tree?

Anyway thanks for the great time and I hope you will continue giving Gentoo a game-base.

Vrenn,

The games maintainers decided that the stable status of most games could mislead users to believe that they were better tested than they actually are.
Thus most games were marked testing. There are no plans to remove games that work.

knights slot 4 got removed because it still depends on deprecated kdelibs4, but has a slot 5 snapshot in tree. We don't stabilise snapshots. At least not without extended testing time...

Good to hear. Taking them in ~amd64 is no problem for me, but I just want to get you know that they are still honoured by us Gentoo-users.

Still interesting is, that the ut2004-data ebuild is for my disc actually broken, but as installed in the past, game works and is automatically skiped in -e world!

ps: Sorry for the doublepost. Was due my current DSL-sync-problems with my provider... can be removed. Routerchange-test today ongoing...

Forum posts aren't keeping games in tree, maintainers are - and we need more of them to take care of games.

You noticed the maintainers, that's/they are really important I have to agree.
I once hat an small opensuse-build-servie-repository. But my lack of bashskills never made it to an ebuild :-(

Use of past tense is wrong in this context.
Code:
