My current installation (relatively recent one) is not showing via lspci what I believe is the additional bus for audio processing through the motherboards connection for it.

I have found it hard to know which features in the kernel could relate, but since the hardware isn't there I don't think that it is a kernel issue.

Is this anything other than possibly a connection or compatibility issue with my motherboard?

LIsLinuxIsSogood,

lspci interrogates the PCI address space for the Vendor and Device IDs of all connected devices.
No kernel drivers are required.

When a device is not listed, its normally disabled in the BIOS or broken.
In very vary rare cases, its hiding behind a PCI bridge that the kernel missed.

First step is to check the BIOS.
Next is to tell the kernel to look harder. You do that by passing a kernel parameter.
They are listed in /usr/src/linux/Documentation/admin-guide/kernel-parameters.txt

It was missing in the BIOS, although I feel weird at having not realized the very simple aspect of BIOS until later when I referred to the motherboard documents that go with it.

Thanks! Marking as solved
